
She was born in Bushkill, PA on September 26, 1928, a daughter of the late John and Mabel (Arnst) Whittaker and was a graduate of East Stroudsburg High School.
Dorothy was a member of the Reformed Church of Bushkill. She worked for Unity House for many years and later worked for Pocomont in the housekeeping department. Dorothy loved to cook, never missed a John Wayne Movie, followed the New York Yankee’s and the New York Ranger’s and wish that she could have seen Joe play college hockey, in Minnesota. She was a plain woman with a great heart for giving and helping others.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband and love of her life Joseph Schraeder, sisters: Hazel and Virginia, brothers: Romaine, Albert, Eugene and Nelson Sr.
Surviving is son: Ron Schraeder of Stroudsburg; daughter: Joan Kniolek of VA; and a brother: Jack Whittaker of NY; grandchildren: Teresa Williams, Robert Kniolek and Joseph Schraeder; great-grandchildren: Robert, Joseph, Corey, Tyler and Hunter and many nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Dot.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, at noon with Pastor Steve Sayer, pastor of the Reformed Church of Bushkill officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery, in Stroudsburg.
A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. till the time of service.
