Elaine R McCracken

Elaine R. "Meme" McCracken, 85, of East Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Dec. 8, 2016, at Easton Manor Care. She was the loving wife of the late Elmer "Mac" McCracken, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Born June 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Alfred and Florence Kice of Dover, New Jersey.

Before retirement, Elaine worked as a hairdresser at Nicoletti's in East Stroudsburg. She lived in Georgetown, South Carolina, for 12 years before moving back to Pennsylvania in 2004. She loved, more than anything, to garden and work in her yard. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She loved to watch college football, NASCAR racing and always watched the Little League World Series.

After being diagnosed with cancer last year, Mom decided on no treatment. She was so incredibly brave and full of life. She never let the disease get her down, but fought a hard battle. In spite of that, she always had a smile on her face, loved to hear about what was going on in everyone's lives, and enjoyed hearing from her kids and grandkids.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son, Dennis (wife Jean) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her son, Donald (wife Mary Ann) of Woodlawn, Virginia; her daughter, Sharon Ace (husband Duane) of East Stroudsburg; and her grandchildren: Kenneth McCracken, Sean McCracken (wife Haley), Ryan McCracken, Shannon McCracken and Stephanie Lester (husband Michael). In addition, she has five great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, Mom. We will love you forever.

There will be no services, as this was her wish.
