

Born in Nanping, Fujian, China on September 23, 1926, he was a son of the late Yu-cheng Yan and Xu Shi. He was educated in Shanghai, and earned his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Tongji University Shanghai, China. Jiaji was also a professor at Tongji University, Shanghai, retiring after 40 years of teaching and research. In 1999 he relocated to the East Stroudsburg section of Monroe County.
Jiaji was of the catholic faith, and during his retirement he enjoyed taking English speaking classes at Northampton Community College, Tannersville.
Surviving is his spouse of 66 years Huaying Mei of East Stroudsburg; sons, Wenfan Yan and his spouse Hong Gong of Boston, MA; and Wenjie Yan of East Stroudsburg; daughters, Wenbin Yan and her spouse Liming Yang of Shanghai, China; and Xiayuan Yan and her spouse Yu Cao of East Stroudsburg and San Francisco, CA; brother Jiasheng Yan of China; grandchildren, Lin Yang, Ming Yan, Weien Cao, Weida Cao and Gan Yang.
A prayer service will be held on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with Rev. Fr. Thomas D. McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery, Bryant Street, Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M..
