John F. Petrizzo

John was born in Brooklyn N.Y. July 18, 1920, a son of the late Joseph F. and Philomena (Beogia) Petrizzo. He was graduate of P.S. 73 High School Queens, New York, and served his country in the Navy during WWII as a V1 Volunteer.

He was a member of The Church of St. John’s East Stroudsburg, The Italian club Stroudsburg, and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2540 East Stroudsburg.

Mr. Petrizzo was the owner and operator of Petrizzo Italian American Restaurant of Bushkill for over 53 years and Proprietor of Petrizzo New Blue Ridge Inn and Resort Middle Smithfield Township. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union local 282 New York City N.Y. and bought and sold real-estate.

John enjoyed socializing with his patrons and the good people of the Stroudsburg Area. He had a witty personality and a Brooklyn style about him that his loving family will miss dearly.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his loving wife of 52 years Mary (Sirola) Petrizzo who passed away February 15, 1999, a son Joseph Petrizzo and a brother Anthony Petrizzo.

Surviving is a son John F. Petrizzo, Jr. and his wife Sheryl of, Middle Smithfield Township. A daughter-in-law Nadja Petrizzo of, Middle Smithfield Township, grandchildren Michael Petrizzo of, Middle Smithfield Township, Brenda Kelinman and her husband James of, Bath,Michelle Petrizzo and one great-grandson Nicholas Petrizzo of, Sciota

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 with a mass of Christian burial following at 10:00 A.M. in St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Ave East Stroudsburg, Rev. Jeffery Walsh from the Church of St. John East Stroudsburg Celebrant Rev. Augustine Lourduswami Co-Celebrant. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Laurelwood Cemetery Stroudsburg.

A visitation will be held on Monday April 18, 2011 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg from 2 P.M. to 4P.M. and from 7 P.M. to 9P.M. Father Jeffery Walsh will officiate a Christian wake service at 8:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
