
Joseph D. Sincavage, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on January 6, 2011, respected and admired. He was born January 8, 1933 in Bear Creek, Pennsylvania, the son of Peter and Mary (Smacher) Sincavage and was a Monroe County resident for nearly 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Albert, sister Vera Parry and cousins William, Emily and Thomas. He is survived by a son Kevin and daughter-in-law Leila of Westwood, NJ; a daughter Lisa DeLorenzo of Fredon, NJ; a daughter Katherine Marotti of Killingworth, CT, a godson Thomas Sincavage of Gulph Mills, PA and 4 grandchildren.
Mr. Sincavage was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War having served 2 years during the early 1950’s. He graduated from Indiana Tech with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1959 and earned his professional engineer’s license for Pennsylvania in March of 1963. He was employed by Air Products and Chemicals in Allentown as a project engineer for eight years managing the design and construction of air separation plants throughout the United States. His work then brought him to some 80 countries living oversees for nearly 9 years with assignments in Vietnam, Greece and Saudi Arabia working for both government and civilian contractors.
In his more than 50 years of world traveling, he amassed greater than 3 ½ million air miles. In his retirement he enjoyed gun and coin collecting, golf and travel. He vacationed in Europe each year and always visited his ancestral home in the village of Maleva, Belarus.
A viewing will be held at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home in East Stroudsburg this Thursday, January 13 from 6 to 8 pm, and Friday, January 14th from 9 to 10 a.m, the funeral service will be officiated by Father Auguspine of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, immediately following will be a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dallas, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory, to The Salvation Army.
