

Josephine Liberto, 94, of Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Pleasant Valley Manor. She was the loving wife of the late Carmine Liberto, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage before his passing in March 2000.
Born Feb. 23, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Alfio and Grace (Bitto) Chisare.
Josephine was a simple woman. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and creating. Her imagination was still abundant amidst the illness that began to take over. Josephine was a kind, loving woman who will be sincerely missed.
In addition to her parents and late husband Carmine, Josephine was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Chisare.
Surviving are her children : Mary Ann Liberto-Zaczek of East Stroudsburg; Thomas Liberto and his wife, Esther, of Queens, New York; Joanne Madonia and her husband Antonio, of West Palm Beach, Florida; and her grandchildren: Debra Pliska, Laura Liberto-Sosa and her husband, Mario, and Michele Liberto.
There will be a public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 at Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery, 501 Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Manor, 4227 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg, PA. 18360.
