

Born in Manhattan, N.Y. on October 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary E. (Whelan) Walpole. Mary was raised in Manhattan and graduated from Cathedral High School with the class of 1952. After graduating high school, Mary obtained a position with Nabisco, and left that position in 1955 to start her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mary was a member of the Church of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, and taught Pre Cana Classes and was involved in the Marriage Encounter Movement for over 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting blankets. Mary loved a party and enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was sister, Veronica Murray brothers, Edward, James and Thomas Walpole and grandson, William (Billy) Wilcox, who passed away in 2008.
Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years John R. Cerruti, of East Stroudsburg; daughter, Mary Wilcox and her husband William of N.Y.; Susan Cerruti of N.Y.; and Ellen Massaro and her husband Richard of Bushkill; sons, Robert Cerruti and his wife Gina of N.Y.; John G. Cerruti of N.Y.; and Richard Cerruti of N.Y.; brothers, John Walpole of Calf; and Joseph Walpole of N.Y.; grandchildren, Richard, Daniel, and Laura Massaro, Kelly Donovan, Robert, Nicole, Christopher and Kevin Cerruti; great grandchildren: Regan, Joseph, Eva, Alyssa, and Angelina; and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Church of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 5171 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, with Fr. Jeffrey J. Walsh celebrant. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect Street, East Stroudsburg.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday April 4, 2013 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the VNA Hospice House at 502 Independence Road East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
