

Born December 11, 1931, in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Clyde W. Baird and the late Dorothy Maureen Neer.
Dr. Baird graduated from Capital University in 1953 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, Thomas Jefferson University Medical College in 1957 and Temple University in 1963 with a Doctorate of Medicine, specializing in Neurosurgery. He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years active duty, including one year in Vietnam aboard the USS Sanctuary. After serving his country, he entered private practice as a neurosurgeon, while remaining in the US Naval Reserve, eventually settling in the Pocono Mountain area. Dr. Baird practiced neurosurgery at Pocono Medical Center, serving as the only neurosurgeon for many years. Dr. Baird retired from the Navy with 25 years of service and the rank of Admiral.
Dr. Baird enjoyed sailing his sailboat on Lake Wallenpaupak and flying his plane in and out of Mount Pocono Regional Airport. He was especially proud to have attained his Instrument Rating as a pilot, allowing him the ability to fly under instrument flight rules. Dr. Baird adored his basset hounds and was keenly fond of a good Ken Burns documentary, as well as watching PBS and cheering on the Yankees.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Kathleen, Dr. Baird was preceded in death by his brother Richard Baird.
Dr. Robert Baird is survived by his brother David (Roberta) Baird of Athens, Ohio and children Katherine (Ed) Keller of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Pauline (Dennis) Mignogno of Lincoln, DE, Robert M Baird, Jr. of Painesville, OH, John “Bill” (Tammy) Baird of Kunkletown, PA and stepdaughter Kelly (Keith) Scheer of Cresco, PA. He is further survived by his grandchildren Erika Keller, Chad Keller, Lauren Mignogno, Michael Mignogno, Katie Milton, Amanda Baird, John Baird, step grandchildren Tessa and Liam Scheer and great grandchildren Mason Mignogno, Kaylee and Aubrey Mignogno, and Tress, Morgan and Kylee Baird.
There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 beginning at 9 am at Our Lady of Victory, 327 Cherry Lane Rd, Tannersville, PA 18372. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Main St, Moscow, PA 18444.
