Virginia Murphy

A lifelong resident in East Stroudsburg, Ginnie lived in her family home, remarkably supported by her extraordinarily neighbors. The neighbors brought in cheer and great food, kindness, humor, and attention, loving dogs, newpapers, and snow-cleared walks. She loved the people around her, and provided “lovin” for the dogs who were welcomed in for treats on their daily walks. She loved the wildlife around her and fed grapes to the robins who would return each year to her back door. She will be remembered by her family, friends, and neighbors especially for her sense of humor and her hardy laugh.

She was married to Clifford Miller from whom she was widowed when he died at an early age. Ginnie later married Donald Murphy who also pre-deceased her.

She worked as a secretary for McGraw-Edison and the East Stroudsburg Area School District, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Shawnee Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and an usher. She is survived by her three nieces, Mary Ann O’Connor of Wilmington, DE, Patricia Gorman of Amherst, MA, and Virginia Manley of West Chester, PA, as well as grand nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at The Shawnee Presbyterian Church1129 Shawnee Church Rd, Shawnee Delaware, PA 18356,. There will be a public visitation held from 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:00am.
