Barbara Ann Cummings

Barbara was born on March 21, 1942, the daughter of Roy G. and Frances R. (Russ) Newell and passed away on February 26, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK. Barbara grew up and lived in Easton, MD, where she married Lester (Les) Cummings on September 7, 1963. She was a kind and loyal friend and served her community as a nurse, graduating from Delaware School of Nursing. In 1972, Barbara and Les relocated their family to Edmond, OK, where she worked at Edmond Memorial Hospital and the Visiting Nurse's Association, among others. She was particularly compassionate in caring for her geriatrics patients, and felt this to be her calling. She enjoyed sailing on her sailboat Enya, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandson, Will Lange. She is survived by her husband Lester Cummings, son John Cummings, daughter Lisa (Cummings) Lange, son-in-law David Lange, grandson Will Lange, brother Gerald Newell, and sister-in-law Pamela Newell, as well as 4 nieces and 2 nephews. She is preceded in death by her father and mother. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 7 at Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to WildCare Foundation of Noble, OK, Lake Thunderbird Education Foundation of Norman, OK, or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation of Oklahoma City, OK.
