Billy Max Humes

Billy M. (Bill) Humes departed his earthly home May 21st, 2023. Bill was born July 6, 1933 in Harper, Kansas. He moved to Edmond, Oklahoma with his parents, Lee and Maxine Humes in 1944 where he attended Edmond Public Schools from the sixth through the twelfth grades. He graduated from Edmond High School in 1951.

While employed by ONG he enrolled at Central State College in 1956 and graduated with a BS degree in accounting in 1960.

Upon graduation from Central State College he went to work for Sohio Petroleum Company where he was employed until 1963 when he joined the Aero Commander Division of Rockwell Standard Corporation. After numerous mergers, sales, and name changes, it became Gulfstream Aerospace Technologies where Bill retired in 1993 as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration.

Bill was preceded in death by his dad Lee and his mother Maxine, and a sister, Bonnie McGibbon of Fairfax, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Jody, a son William and his wife Lynn of Edmond, a son Shawn and his wife Wendi of Yukon, a granddaughter Heather Hobbs and her husband Ian, two grandsons Dade and Beckam and a great grandson Bryson Blalock, a niece Sherri Griffith, two nephews Pat and Mike McGibbon and a number of great nieces, nephews, and cousins, also extended family Brian and Brandon Davidson and their families.

Bill was active in Bible Study Fellowship for a number of years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Servant, serving in a number of volunteer ministries and missions.

A service celebrating Bill’s life will be held Friday, May 26th at 11:00am at Church of the Servant, 14343 North MacArthur, Oklahoma City, OK 73142.
