Collins Anne Patton, you danced Mommy to sleep celebrating making it to 28 weeks and the next morning you were dancing back in Heaven with God. You were born on August 10, 2023 at 8:49am weighing 2lbs 4oz and measuring 14 inches long. While you were small, you were mighty. The kicks that your Mommy felt were proof of that and with every ultrasound we got to see your active strength in action. You were a fighter sweet girl.
You loved to have your hands up by your face or under your chin as if you were snuggled up ready to cuddle. You also loved to dance. Every time we would sing or play music, one artist in particular, you would instantly start moving around showing your love for music. You especially loved going to your first concert and danced around the entire time.
Your big brother loved singing to you and giving you big hugs and kisses multiple times every day. He would tell you repeatedly how much he loved you and how you were his best friend, you would start moving around when you heard him as if that was your way of returning the sentiments.
You were a fighter, even when the cards dealt didn’t seem quite fair. Along with a few other complications, you had the most special heart. We were prepared to fight alongside you and were readying ourselves for your arrival and for what would follow. Your special heart caused ours to grow bigger for you, for each other, and for others. The amount of prayers and people you touched sweet girl, even in your short time was immense. Maybe you and God both knew that we would need those prayers to help us through much more than we initially thought.
We can’t wait to be reunited again one day our precious girl. What a joyous reunion that day will be. Until then, save us a seat and watch over us. I hope you always felt just how much and how immensely you were loved by your Mommy, Daddy, and brother. You look just like your big brother which gives us comfort in knowing what you would have looked like as you grew up. You would have been absolutely beautiful.
Our hearts are utterly broken but we take comfort in knowing that you never felt or knew pain in your life. We will miss you every day of our lives and yearn for what could’ve and should’ve been, but we know God had his hand of protection over you and I can only imagine the indescribable hug Jesus gave you as you entered the gates of Heaven. You were a part of our lives for only 28 weeks but the imprint and impact that you left on our hearts will last the rest of our lifetime. Until we meet again sweet girl. We love you, our forever angel.
Love,
Mommy, Daddy, and big brother Cooper
