Curtis W. Crane, 72, passed away early morning on February 1, 2026, in his home in Edmond, Oklahoma. He had a very sudden but brief battle with pneumonia. He was blessed to be surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his passing. He is and will always be missed.
Curtis was born on July 16, 1953 in El Paso, Texas, to Danford and LaRae Crane. Shortly after the Crane’s moved to Burley, Idaho, where Curtis was raised with his six brothers on the family dairy farm.
Growing up on a farm taught Curtis how to work hard, a trait that he passed to his children, Richard, Robert, Catie, Lisa, and Molly. He also learned quickly that he did not love working on a farm. He discovered at a young age that he was a talented speaker and pianist. He worked hard to develop those skills and even won several awards, even though he would rather be playing basketball with his brothers or fishing with his best friend Neil Thomas.
After high school Curtis served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Oklahoma. He quickly fell in love with the state and all the great people he met, including his future wife, Susan Corstvet.
After serving his mission in Oklahoma, both Curtis and Susan attended Ricks College in southern Idaho, where they began to date and eventually married. Curtis studied political science and eventually earned his degree from the University of Idaho, which made him a formidable Trivial Pursuit player for the rest of his life.
Curtis and Susan then moved to Oklahoma where Curtis started working as a sales representative, which eventually led to his career at American Sentinel Products, which he continued to work as a sales representative until a year before his passing.
If you Google Curtis, you won’t find much. He didn’t have any social media accounts, nor did he have an email address. If you did manage to find an email for Curtis and actually received an email back from him, or a text message, you were probably talking to his wife Susan, posing as Curtis. She was great at covering his ineptitude with technology, including TV remotes. She was everything to him until the very minute he passed.
Curtis is most well-known for the countless hours that he spent serving in church as a bishop, stake presidency counselor, and patriarch, in which he served until his passing. It is impossible to assess time he spent serving God or the lives he touched. If you go to any LDS church in the Oklahoma City area and mention his name, most likely any person in ear shot has a good story they can share, even if it’s a bit exaggerated.
Most importantly, he was a great husband, the best dad, and even a better grandpa. He was a good man and will be forever remembered by all those he loved.
A visitation will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, located at 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, on February 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A committal service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 13400 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131, on February 7, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.
