

Frances J. Galucki, 91, of Edmond, Okla., died July 8, 2016, at home. Born May 5, 1925, at Waverly, N.Y. to Clarence W. McCray and Edith Agnes Lafever, she is survived by four children: Linda Schmidt, of Weatherford, Texas; Edward F. Galucki, of Cabot, Ark.; Alan J. Galucki of Buffalo, N.Y.; and Donna J. Plewes, of Edmond, Okla.; as well as 11 grandchildren, 12 nieces and nephews, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Galucki; and her son, Clarence W. Galucki.
Frances graduated from Buffalo General School of Nursing in 1947, and then followed a more than 40-year career at Buffalo General Hospital.
She married Edward W. Galucki, Feb. 17, 1947 at Buffalo, N.Y.
Frances took part in the Nurse's Health Study - a groundbreaking study on lifestyle, environment, and wellness that led the way for 230,000 other nurses to participate. She was listed in Who's Who in Nursing numerous times.
During that time, she raised five children at a time when stay-at-home moms were the norm.
She retired to Clearwater. Fla., and continued in nursing as an occupational health nurse with General Electric.
Frances moved to Edmond in 2005.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church Edmond.
An accomplished seamstress, she personally tailored both of her daughters’ wedding gowns and in the past three years Frances welcomed more than 1,000 newborns at Lakeside Women's Hospital with hand-knitted caps.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, at Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond.
Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at Baggerley Funeral Home.
