Joe V. Walters, 82, was born March 19, 1932, in Paris, Arkansas, to Joe and Marie (Kilhoffer) Walters. He passed away January 1, 2015, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Edmond.
Joe and Bette Walters and their four kids started going to St. John's church in 1965. Joe was active in the Knights of Columbus and loved all of their activities. He played on the softball team for them for many years!!! He had so much fun during those games. Both sons and his son-in-law also played with him.
Joe drove a truck to California for many years. He would drive almost 50 weeks out of the year and during his 2 week vacation, he would then drive his family around the United States and never complained because he loved those vacations. He liked to talk on a CB while driving and his handle was "Popcorn".
He loved our lake trips when he finally bought a boat. He drug us around that lake for hours!!! And then more hours!!! He loved to watch us ski. We gradually worked up from a tent to a camper to a motor home and the camping and boating became our yearly vacation. After retiring from trucking and working as a framer with his sons, he was able to travel more with Bette. They drove that motor home all over the United States.
Joe loved life; he was involved in his children's activities and later attended most of his grandchildren's activities. He loved to have a good time; he was always eager to sit and talk and share a beer with any one. No one was ever a stranger and he could talk to anyone. He would do anything for you and always offered you some food or snacks!!! Fun dad!!!
We will always miss him daily!!!
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Raymond; and sisters, Lucille and Anna Louise. He is survived by his beloved wife Bette; daughters, Cathy Gesell & husband Steve and Connie Walters; sons, Cary & wife Kathy and Chet & wife Janey; nine grandchildren: Andrea & husband Nathan, Allyson, Nicholas, Austin, Michelle, Chris & wife Stephanie, Lindsay & husband Will, Megan, and Christopher; four great-grandchildren: Ruby, Dax, Cohen, and Gunner; sister, Edna; and many other family members and friends.
