Johnny, 83, was a resident of Edmond, OK for 38 years. He passed after sudden illness with his family in attendance.
Johnny was born August 1, 1938 in Dixon, NM to Alfredo and Agripeña Montoya. He married Mary Cather Montoya in 1959. He obtained his BS in Microbiology from the University of New Mexico, and subsequently worked as the Director of La Llave, a substance abuse program. After he and Mary moved to Oklahoma, he pursued a Certification in Respiratory Therapy and retired as such from Baptist Integris in Oklahoma City.
Johnny had a contagious laugh, and was well known for it! He loved spending time and traveling with Mary, and extended family members. His grandsons brought him a great deal of pride, and his great-grandchildren filled him with joy.
Johnny is survived by Mary, his wife of 62 years; daughters, Teresa (Abiquiu, NM) and Vicki Hada and her spouse Steve (Kingfisher, OK); grandsons, Cade Cole and wife Erynn Cole (Broken Arrow, OK) and Chase Cole and wife Keisha (Edmond, OK); great-grandchildren: Avenlee, Kinlee, Austen, and Harrison; sister, Diane Lopez and husband Joe; brother, Al Montoya; and many loving nephews and nieces that will miss their favorite Uncle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Johnny's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
