

Kayla Rose Hunter was born on January 19, 1991 in Norman, Oklahoma to Joseph L. Hunter and Maryann Palmer, and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on February 15, 2026. Kayla was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma by her loving parents, Michael and Carolyn Hunter. She grew up with two brothers, Brock G. Hunter and Joseph M. Hunter, and one sister, Katrine Hunter Fulmer.
Kayla was a proud member of the Apache Tribe. She attended school in Edmond, Oklahoma, initially attending grade school at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School, followed by attending Summit Middle School. Much of her high school years were completed in Lawrence, Kansas. She ultimately earned her GED as a young adult, the culmination of her years of education and work toward completing this goal. Kayla expressed her faith through her love of Christian hymns, whether she was attending a Protestant church or a Catholic church of her upbringing.
Throughout Kayla’s life, she was a beautifully gifted singer. She loved music, and took voice and piano lessons. Kayla was also a talented and creative cook. She truly enjoyed creating recipes and sharing the food she prepared with others. From the time she was very young, she loved spending her summers swimming.
As a young adult, Kayla became a mother to three precious children: Rose, Ande, and Serenity. Kayla always expressed her love and prayers for her children, as she entrusted them to their adoptive families.
Kayla spent many of her adult years working in the restaurant industry. She took her love for preparing and sharing food with others into her work, including time spent serving elders in a nursing home.
Kayla had the opportunity to form relationships with several members of her birth family, including her parents, her Aunt Julie Hunter Brown as well as her brother, James Redbird. She is deeply loved and missed by countless people. Her smile lit up a room, and her sense of humor brought laughter and joy. Her singing voice was beloved by all who heard her, and she was asked to sing for events large and small. She often sang songs by Adele, her favorite artist.
Before Kayla journeyed to her heavenly home, she was asked if she had a message for anyone and she said, “I love them all.”
A Rosary Service will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, on March 15, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S. Littler, Edmond, OK 73034, on March 16, 2026, at 11:00 am.
