Marion D. Swearingen of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 after reaching the age of 88. He was born on December 28, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Albert Dean and Rosa LaVerda (Spence) Swearingen.
Marion was a country boy and, as a youth, loved playing baseball. He entered the Army during the Korean War and served his country with pride. Marion retired from WW Steel Co. after working for many years as a quality control supervisor. He loved to play country and gospel music on the guitar and played with several bands throughout the years. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. Marion loved attending church at Henderson Hills Baptist Church and studying the Bible until his eyesight started to fail in the past decade.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Lou Shanks; grandson Marion James Swearingen; and brother Albert Eugene Swearingen.
Marion is survived by his sister Joyce Fuller; daughter Nola Joy Swearingen, step-daughter Debra Sue Pennington; step-son Rodney Ray Reece; many grandchildren and great-granchildren.
