It is with a heavy heart that I must announce Marshall William Wise has passed. Born July 19, 1950 in Oklahoma City to Paul Elbert Wise and Doris Jean (Cotton) Wise. His death was witnessed at the Oklahoma City VA Hospital, January 21, 2022 after a 3-week long battle with complications from Covid-19.
Marshall grew up in OKC and attended Capitol Hill High School. He went on to join the United States Army, after which he served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict, until 1981 when he was honorably discharged. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Battle ‘E’ Efficiency Ribbon, Marksmanship Ribbon, Sea Service Ribbon, and First Good Conduct Medal (US Navy).
Afterwards, he pursued multiple endeavors; such as setting mobile homes, selling mobile homes, apartment maintenance, home electric, and plumbing. This continued until he was diagnosed with COPD and his health began to decline. It was then that he joined the ranks of the disabled veterans and sought out less demanding work projects. During this time till the end of his life, Marshall was ministering at his local Baptist church. When he was not ministering to youth and adults, he could be caught fishing, being outdoors, and spending what time he had with his family.
Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Paul Wise; Sisters, Cynthia Wise-Cyphers and Paula Pierce; brother, Paul Wise; grandson, Christopher Wise; and daughter, Kimberly Dawn Wise. He is survived by daughters: Deanna Wise, Angela Rasberry-Shannon and husband David, and Rachael Bowker and husband Brenton; son, James Wise; grandchildren: Bradley, Stephen, Timothy, William, Matthew, Beverly, Kimberly, Emily, Brittany, Morgan and Kyllan; brothers: Robert Wise, Michael Wise and wife Rebecca, and Phillip Wise and wife Keri; sisters, Theresa Wise and her partner Meredith Swinson and Lisa Wise Chapman; and a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family.
The family would like to specially thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center for their kindness, compassion, and caring for Marshall in his final weeks of life.
Lastly, the family would like to thank each and every person and family that participated in the Go Fund Me drive to provide for the final expenses. It was the generosity of these folks that has touched our hearts, ensured Marshall gets the funeral he deserves, and left us baffled. We cannot thank you enough.
