Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a life marked by perseverance, intellect, and quiet determination. Though born into humble beginnings, he achieved what he valued most through hard work, earning a Doctorate in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma, a milestone he was deeply proud of.
Throughout his life, Richard lived in several places including Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Iowa, before ultimately returning to Edmond, Oklahoma, which he called home.
Richard had a deep appreciation for music, especially Elvis Presley and George Strait, and his favorite colors were crimson and cream. His idea of a perfect day was simple and joyful: a run, a few rounds of trap shooting, a round of golf, a cold beer shared with friends and family, and ending the day reading a Louis L’Amour novel. He loved to laugh, and Mel Brooks never failed to bring a smile to his face.
Above all else, Richard believed that hard work conquers many obstacles, a lesson he lived by and passed on. He had a special bond with his beloved cat, Kat, who brought him constant companionship and comfort.
Richard was preceded in life by his parents, Francis Raymond Allitzer and Dorothy Elizabeth Landis, and sister Jane Alltizer.
He is survived by his sons Preston Lee Alltizer and Jonathan Andrew Alltizer, brother Dale Alltizer and wife Pam, and sister Judy McCullough.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, located at 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. The service is scheduled for February 7, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.
