Rodney Alan Vanderlinde was born April 15, 1953, departing this world to be with his Lord December 4, 2013. Born to Betty Stroud and Philip Vanderlinde here in the Oklahoma City area, Oklahoma is where he made his permanent home until his departure at the age of 60.
At an early age he discovered his true passion, the ability to craft lumber into everlasting beauty through means of trim carpentry. Along the way he fell for his beloved soul mate, Marilyn Cunningham. They married January 13, 1974 and were approaching 40 years of companionship before his departure. Shortly after marrying he opened and operated a thriving trim carpentry business of 39 years, now passed down to Josh Vanderlinde, eldest son. With newfound success in his business and a lovely bride at his side he added the title of Father to his accolades with the nurturing of 3 children.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Vanderlinde of Luther, OK, son Josh Vanderlinde of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter Megan and husband Ryan Wood of Melbourne, FL, and youngest son Seth Vanderlinde of Edmond, OK, 6 grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
A man loved by many and a stranger to none, dad you are and will always be greatly missed. Any soul pleasured with your presence has inherently taken and kept a valuable piece of your warmth to cherish forever. You contributed to those around you, more so than you can ever know. A life lived, a life loved, and a life accomplished; we will miss you always dad.
