Sara Ann (Payne) Brooks

Sara was born October 25, 1936 in Kingfisher, OK to Harley and Helen (Dickerson) Miller but spent most of her life in Stillwater, OK. While in high school Sara was known for her wisdom and deep understanding of the word of God. After graduating high school that wisdom was passed down to many generations of family members, and it was important to show God to them. As a Proverbs 31 woman, she wanted to share her love to those in need of God, and teach them to live an exemplary life no matter the circumstances.

Sara married Gerald Payne November 6, 1953 and he preceded her in death December 22, 1988.

Sara was a member of Community Church in Guthrie, and Full Circle Fitness. During her down time from working as the business admin at Central Casket Company in Guthrie, Sara enjoyed a cup of hot tea while enjoying a bible study, and fitting in a workout. But what she enjoyed the most was being surrounded by her grandbabies and great grandbabies making them laugh.

Sara is also preceded in death by her son, Clifford Payne, brother Allen Miller, sister Bonita Petty and husband Pete Petty formally of Benton, AR.

She is survived by son Jimmy Payne and wife Marie who was a third daughter to Sara, daughters, Charolette Purviance and Gerri Tapley, brothers OD Miller and wife Sue and Jack Miller and wife Barbara, seven grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly

A visitation for Sara will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK. Funeral services will occur Monday, February 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Community Church, 512 E. Seward Road, Guthrie, OK.
