

Velma Sylvia Wilson, 99, of Edmond, OK, passed from this life to be with her Lord on Oct. 29, 2013. Born at home Sept. 24, 1914, in Whiteoak, MO to James O. Hall and Mary Lemonds Hall, Sylvia grew up in Dunklin County and graduated from Hornersville High School in Hornersville, MO in 1935. On October 29, 1938, she married Cecil X. Wilson of Senath, MO. To this union, two daughters, Joyce Wille and Mary Julia Wilson and two sons Jim Wilson and Ike Wilson were born. Until Cecil’s death in 1978, Sylvia worked on the cotton farm with him as well as having a day care center in her home. After Cecil’s death, Sylvia moved from MO to OK where she was a dorm mother, receptionist and a mail clerk for a total of 18 years at Oklahoma Christian University. After retirement from OC, Sylvia worked at a day care center and then kept children in her home. Sylvia loved children and was always bringing treats to then every Sunday morning.
Sylvia was an active member at the Wilshire Church of Christ in OKC until her death. She taught the kindergarten Sunday School Class for over 50 years including the Wilshire congregation as well as the Senath, Mo. congregation.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday morning, Nov. 4th at the Wilshire Church of Christ, 400 E. Wilshire in OKC under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond. Visitation will be Sunday night, Nov. 3rd from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond. Interment will be in Senath, MO, Wednesday, Nov. 6th at 10:00 A.M.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, and Mary Julia her daughter as well as 3 sisters; Evelyn Hall, Fredia Lemonds, and Thelma Harrold and 2 brothers J.C. Hall and Dimon Hall.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Joyce Wille of Abilene, TX, and sons Jim Wilson and his wife, Anna, of Kingston, OK, and Ike Wilson of Edmond, OK; three grandchildren, Lisa Riddle, Jim Wille and Jimieanne Kite; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Hall of OKC; and two sisters Alice Page and Verniece Kilburn of Kenneth, MO.
