After 90+ years of a life filled with love and adventure, Virginia S. Morefield, born on October 3, 1920 in Columbus, Nebraska, joined her loved ones and her Heavenly Father on April 19, 2011.
Virginia was born Virginia Haworth and was the daughter of Josephine and Burton Haworth. Her sister, Doris and brothers, Jack and Donald preceded her in death.
She was the wife of L. William Morefield for over 50 years until his death in 1996. Bill and Ginny spent 27 years of their marriage serving their country in the U. S. Air Force. During this service, their adventure took them to England, France, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Alabama, Alaska and California where they retired. For the next 40 years, Virginia lived in the San Jose area.
In 2006, Virginia came to Oklahoma to live near her son, Ken, and his family and resided at Touchmark at Coffee Creek in Edmond. As one of the first residents of Touchmark she soon became one of two “Friendship Ambassadors” which meant that she was one of the first to welcome new residents to Touchmark and she held this position for several years.
Virginia was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Edmond, OK.
She leaves behind three sons and their wives, John and Kathy, Ken and Eileen, and Rick and Catrina. She also leaves ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Virginia used to say how blest she was but, in truth, it is those that were around HER that were blest by her presence. Her family says a very sad goodbye until they meet again.
You are loved Virginia, Ginny, Mom, Gram, Grandma, Grandma Ginny, GG.
A Catholic Mass of Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond, OK. Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill, in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in California.
