Allan was born in Toronto, Ont. on July 24, 1959; he moved to Edmonton from Toronto in the early 1980’s seeking employment. He worked in auto sales for many years working long hours all while raising his daughter on his own with some assistance from his mother Betty Jansen. He was a devoted father and although at times things were really tough there was always lots of love in the home.
Allan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his early 20’s which happened to be the same disease that took his own father at a very young age. He was very diligent in managing his diabetes but was also not one to let it dictate his life.
Allan was a passionate debater and never backed down especially when standing by his values. He was an extremely outgoing person and spent a lot of time traveling to many places around the world including visiting family in Switzerland and Germany. He is survived by his brother Robert Jansen, loving daughter Tamara Jansen and many other distant relatives and close friends.
Allan is preceded in death by his father Wilfred Jansen, mother Betty Barbara Jansen and his nephew Robert “Bobby” Jansen.
In lieu of flowers; donations may be given to the Juvenile diabetes foundation.
