Anna Cathleena Pearson (Mitchell) passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 surrounded by loving family at the age of 43. Her determination and spirit as she fiercely fought cancer was inspiring and a testament to her love for her children and husband. She left her mark with a vast circle of family and friends who will mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
Anna was born July 16, 1982, in Edmonton, Alberta. She was a beautiful, happy baby who evolved into an inquisitive, self-sufficient and determined little girl.
She always loved spending time with her maternal grandparents. Grandpa had his helper to fix things from the time she was old enough to follow him around. Grandma taught her to make pies and play cribbage. Anna and her younger sister Colleen spent many happy hours with them camping and fishing, two activities Anna would love for all time.
Anna grew up in and around the Tomahawk, Wabamun and Edmonton areas. She attended Tomahawk School from pre-K to grade 9 and went on to Frank Maddock High School in Drayton Valley. She further enrolled and completed her NAIT studies to become an Electronics Engineering Technologist.
This would be a critical turning point in Anna’s life, as it was through a social visit to her first job with Precision Drilling where she would eventually meet her future husband Al at a work event Christmas eve. The rest was history as the two were inseparable thereafter. This included adventures abroad; a memorable wedding; and the life they built together in Beaumont as the family expanded with sons Lucas and Deakon. Because Anna loved pets and Al loved Anna their family also included a loyal dog, three worldly cats, guinea pigs and a busy fish tank.
Their home in “The Sac” has always been a gathering place for family, friends and neighbours. Anna always believed there was room in her home and in her heart for everyone. There was always space for one more, no matter what the occasion or who might have otherwise been alone.
Anna’s biggest focus in life was her children. She loved them selflessly with every fibre of her being. She and Al have always wanted them to experience life to the fullest. This would include family trips, sports, festivals and events, and many other activities filling their busy schedules.
Anna had an amazing capacity to keep the household running and on track. Her lists were legendary.
Anna had very close ties to her siblings and notably a special bond with her younger sister Colleen. Luckily their husbands also became fast friends. The Pearsons and the Arcas (“Parcas”) remained close through the years.
Anna would often say that her happy place was camping at Buck Lake where a wide variety of friends and family would gather frequently. Countless treasured memories were made at Buck, including celebrating Anna’s 40th birthday in 2022. Anna loved the laughter and the visits with everyone who came to visit them there.
Anna’s work and volunteer efforts spanned her initial career in downhole technologies at Precision Drilling and Baker Hughes, to volunteering in animal shelters abroad, to dog-walking, to her most recent and cherished role as an Education Assistant (EA) at her children’s school.
She loved being part of the school community and continued working at the school until her body no longer allowed her. It was difficult for her when she had to step back from her work to focus on her health.
Anna is survived by her husband Al and their sons Lucas and Deakon; her Mother Grace; her Father Ken and Step-Mother Connie; Her Step-Father Fred; Her Mother-in-Law Lisa; Siblings Colleen (Bernie), Alicia (Kai), Justin (Adele) and Andreya; her Brothers-in-Law Douglas (Jessica), Paul (Sarah); her nieces and nephews who she adored: Quinn and Kayla, Joel and Sarah, Malcolm and Colin; And her many, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
