Chunilall Soman

He leaves to mourn his wife Hilda of 55 years and his only son Ravi (Karen), grand daughters Aaliyah and Melissa, late daughter Susan (Thomas), grandsons Joshua, Benjamin and Alexander.

CHUNILALL SOMAN, (CHUNI) as some knew him; Tr Soman as we fondly called him because he was a schoolteacher for many, many years, was born on May 3rd 1943 in Guyana, South America.

He was the eldest of 11 siblings. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Katie Soman, his brothers GLENN, FRANKIE and ALLAN and his only daughter, SUSAN.

He started his teaching career in the late 50’s; he was later a Headmaster, commonly known as a Principal of an Elementary School. He was a great influence in the community and was involved in many areas within his community. He was a major influence in the lives of many until he emigrated to Canada in 1995.

He worked at the Youth Empowerment & Support Services in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for more than 20 years, until he retired in May 2020 at 77. During that time, he received many awards and accolades for his accomplishments.

We would also like to thank the Doctor and staff of St Joseph’s Hospital for their care and support.

Lovingly remembered by his wife Hilda and only son Ravi, daughter in law Karen, Son in law Thomas, grandchildren Aaliyah, Melissa, Joshua, Benjamin and Alexander, sisters, brothers, family and friends.
