Cliff was born in Saskatoon on November 11, 1927 to Henry and Agnetha Driedger, the middle child between Orville and Vivian. The family moved quite a bit to accommodate their father’s occupation as a grain buyer, but settled in Daysland in 1933.
After graduation, Cliff became a salesman of lumber, cars and, finally, insurance.
He met Bernice Lomas. After four years of courtship, Cliff and Bernice were married October 18, 1958. In a very short time, they added six children to the family—Donna, Mavis, Dean, Don, Eleanor and Cheryl. He loved each member of his family and passed on wisdom for living through daily dialogue and direct instruction.
Cliff bought an insurance agency in Daysland and then established Driedger Agencies in Camrose with Oscar Malmo as his business partner.
Every Sunday, he took his family to the United Church for Sunday School and Morning Service where they sat in the front pew. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and spent countless hours memorizing passages for their meetings. In his early forties, Cliff felt like he was successful by the measures of the world around him, but he had an inner discontent. He was introduced to the Full Gospel Businessmen International. This organization held regular meetings during which individuals would tell the story of their conversions to Christianity. In these accounts, Dad heard about a vibrant faith relationship with God through Jesus Christ. When Cliff embraced Jesus, the reality of his conversion became the central focus of his life. The salesman became an evangelist! He became a member of Gideons International in Canada and distributed New Testaments in prisons, hospitals, hotels and to every Grade 5 student.
Cliff retired early in order to devote his time in service through the church and to individuals in need.
When Bernice’s cognitive function began to decline, Cliff came alongside her to help her continue to function in the family home for as long as possible. When she entered long-term care in Tofield, Cliff moved as well and visited her daily until her death.
Following this loss, Cliff returned to Camrose to be close to Aunt Vivian and other family members as well as maintain his connection with Full Gospel Businessmen. He lived independently at Deer Meadows until January 2021. At that point, he moved to Hinton to live with Donna’s family. Their support allowed him great freedom. Unfortunately, as he was out walking, he trip and broke his pelvis.
We gathered around him last weekend and supported him with love as he moved from this world to his eternal home.
Cliff was predeceased by both parents, his wife, his brother and an infant son. He is survived by Donna (Harry) Arnesen, Karina, Hanna; Mavis (Norm) Mulder, Ami, Meghan; Dean Driedger, Devon, Paige, Dane; Don (Sharlene) Driedger, Tracey, Erika; Eleanor (Weston) Voytechek, Joe-Anna, Micheyl, Brendyn, Wanita, Malinka, Shavonne; Cheryl (Rod) Barks, Brett, Britney, Tiara, Mikayla, spouses of grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
