It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Lloyd Marshall on April 12, at the age of 76, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Peacefully surrounded by the love of family and friends, we are grateful to have had his steady and patient presence in our lives for as long as we did. He was a loyal friend.
Born in Truro, Nova Scotia, Don eventually ventured West and enjoyed an exciting and satisfying career working in the construction end of the Mining and Oil & Gas industries where he was mainly involved in Project Scheduling and Cost Control. Post retirement, Don could be found at his cabin, jogging, or sea kayaking and was an ardent Oilers, Elks and Blue Jays fan. He contributed daily to the condo building he lived in to make it a safe and secure place to live.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Reverend Lloyd and Elvera Marshall, and brother George. He is lovingly remembered by his family: Susan Marshall; Doris (Gilles predeceased) Ethier; Derek Ethier, Karen Corbeil, Henry (Wendy) Ethier; Jean (Neville predeceased) Probyn; Gerald (Lesley) Marshall; nephews David Probyn and Paul Marshall (predeceased) and nieces Lauren (David) Doucette; Suzanne (Jeffrey) Kelly; and Dr. Linda (James McCarvell) Probyn. He is survived by numerous great nieces and nephews: Zachary & Joshua Doucette; Amanda (Haig) Beylerian, Dustin & Sarah LeBlanc; Victoria (Tori), Alyson & Matthew McCarvell and great great nephews, Edgar & Razmeg Beylerian. Also, Niklas Corbeil; Hannah & Jena Ethier; Meaghan (Samson) Recollet and great great niece Ruth.
Our sincere thanks to the University of Alberta Hospital Emergency and Unit 3E4 who embraced Don as family and comforted him in his final days. A donation to a charity of choice or Unit 3E4 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Hainstock’s Funeral Home. Visitation Friday, April 21st from 3 to 6 pm.
