Doris passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 97 years young.
Doris was born in Enchant, Alberta and then, at the age of 5 years old, moved with the family to Fort Assiniboine, where she spent the rest of her childhood. In her early 20's, Doris moved to Edmonton to live and work with her sister. There she met her husband-to-be, Allan Olsen. They were married shortly thereafter and went on to raise 2 children. They were also able to pursue their passions of curling at the Thistle Club and golfing at the Highlands Club. Doris was very active and often volunteered for many events and positions. She held positions in the women's curling club and was often seen organizing events for golf and curling. She even represented Alberta in women's and senior women's curling. She also enjoyed going in events like walk-a-thons to raise money for charities. Doris had an amazing memory and delighted everyone with her stories of when she was young. Doris loved all animals and would take in strays. She even liked bugs and would rescue ladybugs, bees, and moths who found their way into her home.
Doris is survived by her son David (Diane); their four children Kelly (Jordan) and Shannon (Dave), and their kiddos, Jack and Amelia, Sarah (Akira), and Katie (Teagan) and their son, Xavier. She is also survived by her daughter, Karen (Gregory); their four children, Athenia, and her kiddos Maina, Aidan, and Piper, Zakary (Angeline), and their son Kristoff, Jarod (Ashley) and their son Viktor, and Sean (Kaitlyn) and their kiddos, Alice, Cora, and Edmund.
Doris is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as her two sisters-in-law, Betty Wilson and Evelyn (Clayton) Passmore.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Ingvald and Ingeborg Hansen, her ten siblings, and her husband, Allan.
A Celebration of Life is planned for the Fall. In lieu of flowers, a donation to an animal charity would be appreciated.
