December 30th, 1953—December 24th, 2023
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Corey.
Corey is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Wendy Keith; sons Michael Keith (Christine) and Murray Keith (Natalie); grandson Noah Keith and granddaughter Abigail Keith; sister Patti Horncastle; stepmother Shirley Keith (Robert); brother-in-law Randy Wallis (Shelley); sister-in-law Cindy Pringle (Brent), and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Leslie Keith, mother Marie Stabbler; father-in-law Roy Wallis and mother-in-law Lorna Wallis; and dear granddaughter Naomi Keith.
Corey began his career in banking, moving his young family to several small communities throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan. After landing in Saskatoon things stabilized and he loved and raised his family there for 15 years. After that Corey and Wendy moved to Mississauga, ON. They loved it there, but wanted to be closer to family and moved back west to Calgary and then to Edmonton. 20 years ago Corey and Wendy started a consulting company working with organizations of all shapes and sizes, municipal and provincial governments, and other agencies. He was known for his sincere desire and passion to help everyone that he worked with succeed, his integrity, sense of humour, and professionalism. Relationships were always Corey’s first priority throughout his entire career and he developed many close friendships that have lasted decades. Sharing his gifts and skills to help others was important to Corey and he volunteered in organizations such as the Saskatoon Inner City Preschool Foundation (Founding Director), Rotary Club of Saskatoon (Member and Director), Sherbrooke Extended Care Foundation (Director), Bethany Care Society Foundation (Director), and Peel Senior Link (Board Member).
Most important to Corey was his family. Don’t try this at home, but after only knowing Wendy for 2 weeks they both knew that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together and got engaged. For 49 years they adored each other and enjoyed many adventures and lots of laughter together. Their marriage brought them so much joy and serves as a great example for their sons. Corey was a loving and dedicated father who had such a positive impact on Michael and Murray. Frequently he would tell them how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. When they were kids, he devoted countless hours of his time with them and their friends playing sports in the backyard and basement. He loved it as much as they did. Over 40 years later Michael and Murray’s friends still comment on what great memories those are. Corey deeply loved his grandchildren and they brought him so much joy. He was constant in loving and supporting his family and would do anything to provide for them and make their lives better.
Music was not just a hobby, but a passion for Corey. He loved the music he grew up with in the 60s and stayed current with artists and bands throughout the decades. He enjoyed live music and went to many concerts over the years, seeing favourite bands of his like the Rolling Stones several times. At home, family and friends spent hours and hours with him discussing and listening to music of all kinds. These times created deep connections and will be cherished always.
While we grieve Corey’s death deeply, we live in the peace and hope of being reunited with him in the eternal life to come as we hear and trust Christ Jesus’ promise that he is the resurrection and the life, and that whoever believes in him will live forever (John 11:25).
A celebration of life and Christian Funeral will take place at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 34th Ave. N.W.
