

It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Dympna Teresa Kozachenko, late of Edmonton, AB, formerly of Atikokan, ON, announces her passing after a brief illness on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Gail (Chris) Sanders of Edson, AB and Wendy Kozachenko Sgt(Ret) of Edmonton, AB, her 2 grandchildren Shari (Jeff) Tymo of Edmonton, AB and Robert (Heidi) Sanders of Edson, AB, and her 5 great-grandchildren who were the light of Bopcha’s life; Aaron Tymo, Sydney Tymo, Declan Sanders, Fynn Sanders, and Kellyn Sanders. Dympna will also be remembered by her sister Gertie Matthews of London, England, sister-in-law Kathleen Mohan of N. Ireland, her brother-in-law Joseph (Bev) Kozachenko of Burriss Twp, Northwestern Ontario, her 2 sisters-in-law Vicki Dlugosz of Wainwright, AB and Judy Kozachenko of Fort Frances, ON as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Stan, her mother and father of N. Ireland, 2 brothers and 2 sisters also of N. Ireland, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
Dympna met her beloved husband in England during WWII and they were married on September 10, 1946. She came to Canada with her husband on a troop ship in January of 1947. She and her husband Stan settled in Northwestern Ontario where they raised their 2 daughters. After her daughter Wendy retired from the Canadian Air Force, she relocated with Wendy to Edmonton to be closer to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a very strong and independent lady and she raised her daughters to be like her. When something caught her fancy she had a wicked giggle/laugh that was infectious. She was greatly known for her feistiness. As a very loving wife , mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Memories Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Dowle officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Stratton Roman Catholic Cemetery with Rev.Allen Lapay officiating.
Memorial Donations are gratefully accepted to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
