Ed was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and grew up in Peace River, Alberta. He was a happy, goofy kid who loved food - especially Betty's mud pies. Ed's love for food was so insatiable that when he ran away from home he couldn't take it and was right back at supper. Ed grew up throughout Alberta living in Slave Lake, Beiseker, Calgary, and Edmonton before completing high school in Victoria. After that point, Ed settled permanently in Edmonton.
His career was in maintenance, retiring at White Oaks Mall. Ed was a people person, like his father, and would happily talk anyone's ear off about anything and everything. He was insatiably curious and driven by deep loves such as for his favourite bands Queen and the Beatles. He was also a devoted Apple enthusiast and a big sports fan, particularly loving the Oilers, Elks and pro wrestling. Ed also dearly loved animals, at one point converting his entire apartment into a space for his pet mice Mac and Tosh.
Ed was a devoted family man of incredible kindness and generosity, letting his nieces and nephews stay with him in formative years. He is remembered fondly by his family as a kind man who gave of what he had to others, never speaking and unkind word to anyone, and for being a big kid throughout his days.
Those left to mourn Ed are his sisters Judy (Gary) and Betty, numerous nieces and nephews, and relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Cecelia, sisters Marie and Dorothy and brother Ron
Ed requested no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Edmonton Humane Society, Salvation Army, or any animal rescue.
