Born Dec 27, 1927 in Red Deer Alberta eldest of two children his sister is Loree. His father Alfred was a railroad conductor; Ed was very proud of his father and often commented on his role on the railroad. His mother Minnie was telephone operator in the pioneer days of telephone service in Alberta. Ed’s parents separated so Ed, Loree and their mother moved to a farm near Penhold Alberta where she worked as a house keeper and Ed helped out on the farm from 1935 – 1942. Ed talks about riding a horse to school every day. Ed, Loree and their mother moved to Edmonton in 1942. Where Ed went to Victoria High school for grades 9 & 10, he enjoyed extracurricular activities such as the Tuxes which he loved and has friends from the Tuxes to this day.
In 1946 Ed went to work at the Government of Alberta in the Forest Land Use Department. Ed was very proud of his career there, which spanned 41 years. He started as a clerk in the office and was an office manager at his retirement. Ed met his future wife Rosslyn at the Government of Alberta offices. They were married August 8, 1953. In 1955 they moved into a new home in Dovercourt on the outskirts of Edmonton where they raised two lovely daughters Barbara and Michelle.
Barbara married Jerry and they have two daughters Julie and Diana. Julie married Curtis and they have a son Gavin.
Michelle married Jack and they have two sons Daniel and Bradley.
Until his illness Ed never had an unkind word or raised his voice in anger. He loved to watch his daughters compete in dancing and cheer them on in sports or be with them to watch sports or parades. He loved talking and being with his family at events like the former Klondike Days.

Ed left school after grade 10, he was not an academic preferring to learn hands on. He enjoyed his work in Forest Land Use because he loves the outdoors but didn’t want to work outdoors for a living.
Ed made the most of his retirement years. He loved to spend time outdoors; he took pride in keeping his lawn green, and his flowerbeds full of beautiful flowers. Ed & Ros went on Caribbean and Alaskan cruises and a trip to Ireland & England with Loree and Prentice.
