AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Feerozudeen Khan

6 juillet 1936 – 15 octobre 2025
Avis de décès de Feerozudeen Khan
AUX SOINS DE

Memories Funeral Home

On Wednesday October 15th, Feerozudeen (Feroze) Khan passed away peacefully in his sleep after a valiant battle with dementia. He was in his 89th year, on which he would remark on the occasions when we told him how old he was, ‘that’s really old’.

He is devotedly remembered by the love of his life, his wife Nenita, and his other loves, his children Myrna (Andrew) and Michael (Jenna); and his grandchildren, Gracie, Isabella and Aliyah.

Feroze was the eldest of ten children, born to Sarifan and Zamiruddin in Berbice Guyana. He volunteered at the young age of 18 to be the overseer of the village, and then at 25 made the brave decision to move to Mankato, Minnesota to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Political Science.

He was recruited by the Government of Alberta (GoA) to live in High Prairie to establish several social services offices in northern Alberta, and it was in McLennan where he met Nenita, a nurse who had recently moved from the Philippines. He was the best man, and she was a bridesmaid at a mutual friend’s wedding - it was love at first sight.

As newlyweds, they moved to Edmonton where over the years, Feroze quietly but diligently supported and helped many family members to immigrate to Canada. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, their kids and their kids for the lives they lead here.

After a long and successful career with the GoA, Feroze took early retirement and enjoyed cruising and travelling, took dancing lessons, and never missed a day of reading several newspapers and always being up on current events. He attended every day of Edmonton’s Heritage Festival, often by himself, as he loved experiencing the multicultural beauty of the country he made his home.

Even as his dementia took hold, he remained our family dominoes champion and continued to affectionately tease his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Shepherd’s Care Kensington Village for their compassion and care during the last stages of Feroze’s life.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22nd at St. Charles Catholic Church 17511- 112 street. Mass will be followed by a reception in the attached hall, and then burial at Holy Cross Cemetery 14611 Mark Messier Trail. There will also be a viewing at Memories Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21st at 6pm, 13403 St. Albert Trail.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to the following organizations. These are causes that meant a great deal to Feroze. Edmonton Heritage Festival Association and Newcomer Centre.
