1954-2025
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our Husband, Dad, and Gido March 3, 2025 at Salem Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 71.
He is survived by his wife Leanne Franko (Bobier) of nearly 50 years, 2 sons Christopher (Katherine), and Thomas (Kelsey), his beautiful grandchildren of both the human and 4 legged variety, six of his eight siblings: June (John), Gord (Gwen), Joanne (John), Jackie (Robby), Greg, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Eva Franko, oldest sister Pat (Art), and brother Ed (Mary).
Gary lived his childhood in Nipawin, SK. He often fondly remembered his time there playing hockey or plowing the hotel parking lot. As a young man he met his beautiful wife Leanne, and started their family in Calgary, they moved to Beaumont, Alberta in 1987 where they lived happily raising their family, and where the family still resides today. Gary worked for many years as a Communications Engineered for ADT, which became TELUS Communications. After retirement at an early age, he could often be found napping while watching nearly any sporting event.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Canadian Diabetes Foundation, an organization held near to and dear to the family due to Gary's personal diagnosis and numerous members of the family affected by diabetes.
He will be greatly missed.
Arrangements entrusted to Hainstock’s Funeral Home & Crematorium.
