Gerald was born on September 28, 1960, in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. He was the second of four children and grew up in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. In 1990, Gerald moved to Peace River, Alberta, to pursue a millwright position at the DMI Pulp Mill, where he spent the majority of his career. He worked in various roles in the manufacturing, pulp, and oil and gas industries until he eased into retirement in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Gerald was a well-respected tradesperson and valued the strong friendships he developed over his years of service.
Gerald enjoyed playing hockey, curling, golfing, and fishing, and always felt comfort sitting by the campfire and taking in the outdoors.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents, James Stewart and Agatha (Tripe de Roche) Stewart. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Jared and Ryan (Mandi), and his grandsons, Jaxon Gerald and Parker Shawn. Gerald will also be deeply missed by his sister Sheila, brothers James and Glen, and their families.
Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in our hearts, and we will forever treasure the times we shared with him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
