

Jack Ronald Waller May 16, 1930 - October 13, 2015 Born in Brighton, England, passed away peacefully in his sleep following a Thanksgiving dinner with family during which he spoke of his curiosities, passions, observations, and loves. Jack was born in Brighton, England and attended Varndean College and London Technical College in the UK., before moving to Canada in 1956. Jack was predeceased by his father, Robert; his mother, Cecilia; his brothers, Eric and John; friends, Sid, Sam, and Michael; and numerous others. Jack was a Captain in the British Corps of Royal Engineers; a Structural Engineer working in design of numerous projects both in the UK, Commonwealth Countries, and here in Edmonton, Alberta; and, a small business owner (Jo Books, Edmonton and The Pit, Victoria).Jack was a lover of ethics, poetry, art, architecture, engineering, soccer, cricket, chess, the NDP, and was a voracious reader. Jack leaves to celebrate and mourn him, a loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Marjorie; his daughter, Penny (David); his son, Jack Jr. (Nooria); grand-daughter, Ophelia; sister-in-law, Patricia; sister, Shirley (Norman); his family, a legacy of which he was unwaveringly proud. Jack was an original founding member of the Old Strathcona Committee (now Business Association) and a vigilant spokesperson for personal freedoms and small, local businesses. Jack was a local name among Edmonton's early music and sport personalities and he had many varied friends, whom he loved and offered acts of service, a gift instilled in him through his early involvement with The Boys Brigade and his passion and love for and faith in Jesus Christ. A memorial was held at McKernan Christian Church at 11304 - 78 avenue in Edmonton, on Saturday, October 17, 2015, 1 PM; a wonderful potluck followed and the family thanks all guests who attended.
