Joseph Oleksyn

1936 - 2019

On March 5, 2019 Joe passed away comforted and cared for by his loving family. Joe was 82 years old and had been at the Grey Nun's Hospital for a short time before God called him home. Joe will always be missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife of 51 years, Victoria (Vicky), his son Shane and wife Sherry, grandchildren that he cherished, Tristian and Kody, and step-grandchildren Brayden, Logan and Ily. Joe is survived by his sisters Helen, Antonette (Ken Summers), Olga Bougher; brother Edward, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mary Oleksyn; brothers John, Peter, George, Walter, Victor, and infant brother William; sisters Mary, Polly, Anne, Minnie, Eva, Rose, Pauline, Jean and infant sister Olga. A Funeral Service will be officiated by Father George Podtepa at St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 11833-66 Street NW, Edmonton on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, 13819-82 Street NW, Edmonton. Immediately after interment, please join the family at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810-34 Avenue NW for lunch and to share memories and stories. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all staff members at the Grey Nun's Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Chatterjee, for their support, kindness and compassion.
