Although I am far away, I feel being near to you and I am thinking about you all and about uncle Jos. I wish you strength to carry the - sometimes even physical sensible - weight of your loss, since Jos was a loving husband and father and brought joy and love in your lifes.

Dear Uncle Jos, I am so grateful that you were willing to take Dad's place and give me away to Jacques on May 11, 1996

Dearest Uncle Jos, 
I met  you for the funeral of my dear father and brother Michael D. Reijnhoudt who was 9.5 years older.You are  a true Pater de Familias for your family in Canada, your mother who visited you every summer for 6 weeks in Canada as for your family in the Netherlands. 
In my teens, I got to know Kim and his friend  who went inter railing in Europe, later Sharon with a friend and then I went with Sharon & Stacey which was great fun, which we formed a nice bond.The first time I visited you with `Marc & Chris , Jacques phoned if he could surprise me and that was fine PROVIDED he slept in another room ,  conservative you were and remained, but why did you have to marry the love of your life again ....At Sharon's  wedding we were , which was great  and there we met Stretch .The more brothers died , the more contact you kept with the widows . You gave me away at my wedding which did not go 100% well due to nervousness on my part but was  dear to me . We made great memories and visited you regularly . We skied in Banff with Marc, Chris and Jacques .You all  visited us in Hong Kong in 1999 which was a lot of fun .Aunt Patsy was the first to know I was pregnant with a girl when she visited me in Singapore in 2001 and Josephine is named after you !I went with Nathalie and Anne-Sophie  in 2010 .You were the last one to get most of the family together in May 2016 , Sama Sebo ,how nice  that you stayed with us and on our wedding day ! We especially Jacques spoil ed you soo much . And the special holiday in our house in Ibiza was a cherry on top of the cake in May 2017. A long time ago ,I told you, I found a letter from you to Dad asking for advice on buying your 1st CTS. Unfortunately, I did not find  it to show you, but he was your trust person . Dear Jos , I will miss you very much but you have reached a wonderful age as a Reijnhoudt with a life you reached a wonderful   full of family, friends, coffees, wines, sociabilities, holidays family.Mabel Nobel  xx

Dear Pat, Stac, Kim, Sharon and Family Jos was a wonderful generous and smart hardworking man.  Hold tight to all of your beautiful memories.  It is these memories that will get you through.  Family was everything to Jos, he loved you all so much and you could see that in his actions and words. Rest in peace Jos, until we see you again. Love Sandyxxxx

Stacy and I met in high school and I was introduced to Stacy's family shortly thereafter. I fondly remember a trip to Banff where Jos showed me a few of the finer things in life like steak tartare and Beaujolais Nouveau shared with love and laughter: I was made to feel like one of the family. Jos was a fine man.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I grew up next door to the Reynhoudts on Bolton Avenue in Beaconsfield, Quebec. Stacey and I were the same age and started nursey school together. I even have a photo! Mr. and Mrs. Reynhoudt were very kind people but I lost contact with the family after they moved out West. I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Dear Pat and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of Jos' passing. I worked at #304 right from the start, and have many fond memories of that time. Jos (Mr. Reynhoudt to me) was larger than life: a gregarious, funny and kind man, and also quite imposing. He certainly made employees want to do their best!

Stacey, Bill and Family,

I have nothing but warm memories of Jos. I knew he was my kind of guy the first day I met him. He was in the laundry room of your home in Windermere getting supper ready for Duke, your Bouvier at the time. He looked up from the dog dish he was preparing just long enough to say a warm welcome and for me to notice the delight in his eyes as he reached for the wieners he was going to soon be adding to Duke’s “healthy” dog food.

Stacey, Sharon, Kim and all the family: Don and I will miss Jos in our lives.  He was one of my first bosses and was always sharing books and stories with Don when we saw him.   A great figure in our lives who will always be remembered.   We’ll be live streaming the service from Halifax.
