Beloved wife to Len Wiens and sister to Dolores Barclay, Marlene Adam, and Doreen Jule. 2 nephews and 2 nieces. Judy was predeceased by her father Peter Jule, mother Katherine Jule and infant brother Donald. Judy was born in Humboldt Jan. 30, 1955 and lived on the family farm just outside of Peterson Sask. with her sisters and grandfather Scherr. The girls were assigned normal farm duties that included picking eggs from the chicken coop. Not that many eggs were collected because the laying hens were rather ornery so after much complaining their dad was eventually the designated egg picker. Judy attended an elementary school in Bruno Sask. and high school she attended St. Ursuline Academy in Bruno. The family eventually moved in 1973 to an apartment in Humboldt.
Judy moved to Saskatoon and stayed with her sister Marlene in 1972 and got a job at a seniors’ home in Saskatoon preparing meals.
Judy decided the kitchen monotony wasn’t for her so she applied for a course on keypunch operation. Unfortunately the course wasn’t available in Saskatoon so she travelled to Vancouver to take the 2 month course. Upon her return to Saskatoon she was taken on by Federated Co-op.
Len and Judy met at The Red Lion Inn in Saskatoon December 15th, 1972 through a mutual friend. Dating quickly proceeded and continued until they decided it was time to get married in Saskatoon on May 31, 1975. 3 months later they packed what little they had and moved to Edmonton Alberta with a few Dollars in search of employment. Judy was a trained keypunch operator so she found employment at Northwest Utilities and a 20 minute walk from their apartment. Len found a job in the oil business with a company called TRW Reda Pump Co. and stayed in the oil business for 38 years supervising and managing service centers for oil pumping equipment and drilling equipment with Baker Hughes later in his career. Len and Judy lived in many foreign locations as part of his job for 2-3 years at a time. Work travels took them to Tripoli Libya, Ras Al Khaimah UAE, Duri Sumatra Indonesia (twice), Singapore, and Dubai UAE (twice). Judy absolutely loved travelling so many trips were taken through Europe and Southeast Asia.
Thailand and Singapore were favourite SE Asia locations and Holland in Europe where their very dear friends Jan and Jackie lived. Norway was also a great experience with Olav and Nina.
They made good friends everywhere they went and still maintained contact with many of them.
One common theme was for overseas dinner parties. Judy was a top notch cook so when invitations were sent out nobody ever turned down a chance to feast at Judy’s table.
In 2013 Len decided that 38 years in the oil business was enough and decided to retire. They moved back to Edmonton and found a house in an age restricted community in SW Edmonton.
Judy was a huge Edmonton Oilers fan and knew every player, position, and how well or lousy they were playing. Len and Judy watched every game side by side in the basement with Len in his LaZboy recliner and Judy wearing her Oiler jersey on the sectional with a blanket and the fireplace on full blaze.
They snow-birded in Arizona (twice), Maui (twice), Florida (twice) and if it wasn’t for covid they would’ve snow-birded more often.
The last trip was Orlando, Florida for one month in 2025 to spend Judy’s birthday on Jan.30 with our dear friends from Michigan Curt and Linda. Judy said that she felt better then than she had felt for years. Her mobility was better and her overall wellbeing was noticeably improved.
Unfortunately her condition deteriorated after returning to Edmonton.
On the evening of Feb, 20th she slipped and fell on the floor due to dizziness and was admitted into Grey Nuns hospital. The following day at 2pm she passed away surrounded by family. Numerous malignant liver tumours plus a weak heart was the physician’s determination for Judy’s passing. Judy’s viewing was Feb.28. Judy requested no service.
Thank you to the staff at Grey Nuns for their support in Judy’s last hours.
Also a huge thank you to Hainstock’s Funeral home for their professional arrangements and preparing Judy very nicely.
Judy will never be forgotten and she left such a loving personal touch with everyone she met. We all love you very much.
