December 9, 1924 – May 18, 2014

Sadly, on May 18, 2014, Betty Hollingshead passed away peacefully at home at the age of 89 years. Betty was born and raised in Calgary and graduated from the University of Alberta in Home Economics. After graduation, she worked in Montreal for Eatons and the Red Cross. She married Robert (Bob) Hollingshead in 1947 and they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage together. During her lifetime she raised her five children with constant love and support. She will be forever remembered for her love of family, her wonderful sense of humour and her enduring wisdom and guidance.

Betty had many interests and was passionate about reading, gardening and sports. She loved dogs and enjoyed her favourite vacation spots which were Maui in the winter and Sylvan Lake in the summer.

Betty will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her five children, Susan Robson (David), Bob Hollingshead (Bitty), Bill Hollingshead, Diane Hollingshead (Robert Wilson), Jane Foster (Cameron); as well as 8 grandchildren, 5 step- grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

Also mourning her loss is her sister-in-law, Philippa Pullar of Calgary. Betty was predeceased by her parents, two brothers (Bill Pullar and Bob Pullar) of Calgary, great-grandson Adam Burkholder and her husband Bob.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Betty's Life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hainstock's Funeral Home, 9810-34 Avenue, NW, Edmonton.
