

Orville (Mick) Wright passed away peacefully on May 8 at the University of Alberta Hospital. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Jane (nee Candlish), and daughters Ivy (Cam) Gibson, and Tammy (Vaughn) Beakhouse; his four much loved grandchildren RaeAnne (Devon), Matt (Kristen), Kaytlyn (Andrew) and Tyson; great grandchildren Bodhi and Briar; brother Glen (Elly); and extended family and friends. Orville was predeceased by his sister and brother in-law Vera and Jim Wilson, and his parents Warren and Erna.
Orville was an adventurer, sportsman, car enthusiast, motorcyclist, cyclist, life long Oilers fan, prankster, jokester and family man. He was also a meticulous and skilled inventor, innovator, artist, welder and woodworker.
Orville was born on January 18, 1939 in Wetaskiwin. He spent his first five years in Usona, moving to Kingman and later Camrose. At 22 he moved to Edmonton working in millwork and glass leading to a 28 year career as an autobody mechanic, primarily at Healy Ford.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Jane. Orville and his family spent 40 years enjoying their cabins at Pigeon Lake, boating, waterskiing, hang gliding, sailing, ice boating and visiting with friends. In later years Orville and Jane spent many holidays on their Honda Gold Wing, camping and traveling Alberta, BC, and northern US and became Snowbirds in Arizona.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 34 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB.
