Growing up in Margaree was a great joy for Owen. He was very involved in Boy Scouts and loved his time fishing the Margaree River. He had many friends and was sure to be where the action was. Owen graduated from Holland Collage, where he met lifetime friends. He cooked in many places; PEI, Cape Breton, Bermuda and Alberta
He was a true Edmonton Oilers fan and loved to play soccer in high school. He had the privilege of cooking at the World Cup in 2021, held in Edmonton. Later in life, Owen was adopted into the Kainai Nation and gifted with the Blackfoot name, Otahkósaapóp (Yellow Plume). He was proud of his name and had a deep respect for Blackfoot traditions. Owen was loved by Soops and Weasel Head families and will always be remembered for his kind and generous ways. At the time of his passing, Owen was employed as a chef at the Northern Bear Golf Club working under his long time friend, David Banin. Dave will always be remembered for his friendship and support to Owen over the years.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at a date to be determined.
As per Owen’s request, he will be brought home to Margaree to rest. Please take some time to listen to Jimmy Rankin’s “Orangedale Whistle” for it has always had a special place in Owen’s heart.
Owen, you will be forever missed and loved
