We are saddened to announce the passing of Peter Cameron “Cam” Friesen on Dec 12 at the age of 90 years. He was born in Hague Saskatchewan before moving to Edmonton. Cam was predeceased by his wife Marion, the love of his life. He is deeply missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, friends and community members in Avonmore, across Edmonton and Saskatchewan. Cam was vibrant, full of energy and passionate about so many hobbies that he was able to fully enjoy once he retired as a successful salesman and shoe store manager. He travelled to many countries and continents with Marion and took amazing photographs that earned him awards with the camera club and were the centerpiece of the beautiful slide shows that he shared with community and church groups. Cam was deeply spiritual. He attended seminary for 3 years and went on to offer church services at the Allen Grey Care Centre for 20 years. He loved music, singing in the choir, and sharing a fun song to lift everyone’s spirits. Cam loved hockey and was able to see his treasured Oilers win the cup. An avid bird watcher, art collector and adventure lover, he made friends wherever he went. We know he is now at peace, reconnecting with those he loved, making new friends and singing in a heavenly choir. Donations can be made in memory of Cam to his favorite Edmonton charities; The Mustard Seed, Hope Mission, or Youth and Empowerment Services (YESS). In lieu of a funeral there will be a family celebration of life later this spring.
