Sheila Wati Kanwar

It is with the deepest of sorrows that the family of Mrs. Sheila Wati Kanwar announces her passing on February 12, 2021, at the age of 96 years. Sheila who is known to her close family as “Mama” or “Bibi”, was born on August 4, 1924 in the town of Dasua, Punjab, India. She moved to Edmonton, Canada in 1981 and was happily and lovingly married to her soulmate Tarsem Lal Kanwar.

Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her husband Tarsem Lal and her children, Kailash (Sashi), Kamlesh (Lt. Vijay), Ramesh (Sushma), Sudesh (Ranjit), Avinash (Gopal), Asha (Kamal), Lt. Amardeep (Madhu), Kanta (Parminder), and Rajinder (Kiran). Shiela will also be fondly remembered by all of her nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mama was a devoted ‘Mata de Bhagat’ and would pray to Jai Mata Di every day. Her faith transpired her into a loving and caring soul who raised 9 children, and multiple grandchildren. She taught everyone the meaning of family and how to love one another without any conditions. Those values are demonstrated throughout her family and will be carried forward for generations to come. Mama was always so welcoming to everyone in her home, and always had a smile on her face. She had a very happy nature and brought warmth to every room making it feel like home. She was one of the most strong, caring, kind-hearted people everyone had the blessing to meet and is our Angel among us.

Sheila lived a fun-filled, joyous life & may her soul find eternal peace.
