It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Getzinger on May 17th at the age of 78 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Martin; children: Lorraine (Owen), Wanda (Mike), Brenda (Chris); grandchildren: Jessica (Brandon), Rebecca (Anthony), Caitlin (Brandon), Matthew (Keelin), Damen; great-grandchild Zachary; brother Gary Docken, sister Marilyn Holownia. Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and creativity. A spirited soul, she adored dancing—whether to classic country music or belly dancing in her younger years. She and her beloved husband, Martin, shared a passion for travel, camping, and quadding, creating countless memories under tropical skies and on rugged trails. A gifted seamstress and crocheter, Shirley poured her heart into handmade treasures for her family. But her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she spoiled with laughter, stories, and endless love.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Cowan, Dr. Wasey, and Nurse Amber, as well as the rest of the ICU staff at Sturgeon Hospital for their care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Memories Funeral Home.
