It was only today that I learned of Tom's passing.  For a few years, I was out of Canada on assignment overseas. A couple of years before that, he and Martha met with me over coffee in Edmonton to talk about improving the opportunities for our people.  His passion for caring will be missed, but his legacy will last.

At this stage of my life and with the crazy health crisis I have been reflecting on previous memories !

It is with a heavy heart that I choose to share some memories of a good friend. I first met Tommy Ghostkeeper, in Grouard, Alberta back in 1967. We attended Moosehorn Lodge. He was a good cross country runner, a good athlete. He had some wonderful stories of the folks back home in Paddle Prairie. I responded with good ones from Fort Chipewyan, where I grew up. He went on to be a successful family man, lived most of his life in St Albert, Alberta.
It was two years ago, that we would meet up again. We were co-hosts of the first National Gathering of Elders in Edmonton. He was a great person grounded in his Metis roots and he loved people. The people loved him. He will be missed by many but his memories will live on in his children, family and friends.  Rest easy my friend Tommy.

My deepest condolences to the family of Tom Ghostkeeper. I had the privilege of meeting Tom through the Elders Wisdom Circle. I was always impressed with his knowledge, kindness, and generosity of spirit.  I am saddened to hear of his passing. Again, my sympathies to his family.

My sincerest condolences from the Maurice L'Hirondelle family to the Tom Ghostkeeper Family for the loss of Tom Ghostkeeper, a beloved Husband to his wife Martha, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and Brother. Tom was a friend and a confidant to many people throughout his life. While working with Tom at the Metis Settlements Training Initiatives Society office. I learned just how much Tom loved his family, how important they were to him. With that love as his foundation, Tom shared his genuine compassion and caring to his friends and associates. Tom's sense of humor could change a cloudy day to a sunny one just with a joke, smile or laugh. My brother Leon and I were not aware that Tom had passed until after the Celebration of Life Services. Tom was well respected by our family. Our Fathers respected each other while working together toward the Betterment of Metis Settlements. My brother Leon and I are very sorry that we were not there to take part in the Celebration of Life for this wonderful person known as Thomas Dale Lloyd Ghostkeeper. Until we meet again Dear Tom.

My sincerest condolences. Tom was a wonderful person. I got to know him when I first started my work with the Metis Settlements Strategic Training Initiatives, he was so encouraging and supportive. He offered words of advice and was always smiling or making someone else smile. He dedication to family and community could never be questioned and I thank his family for sharing him with us.

I remember my first introduction to Tom and saw a fantastic grandfather and obviously wonderful father and father-in-law. His love for his family was so apparent. He included me in his circle without question and I was very grateful for that. I'll miss his quiet reserve with that little smile at the family gatherings. My sincerest condolences to Tom's wife, Martha, and his children, grand children and great grand children. Remember your legacy by remembering Tom's.

I first met Tom and Martha in Red Deer, Alberta.   They welcomed me into their family immediately but what stood out for me was the ongoing love and support to my son.  Tom was a wonderful man who shared his no nonsense wisdom with those that needed it.  Whenever I would visit Desiree and Conrad I had the privilege of spending time with him and Martha.  I don't remember a time when Tom was not smiling. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident at every visit. I wish I had more time to know Tom but I will treasure the memories that I have. Such as,  Tom telling me the meaning of the Native name given to Austin.  As I think of it now, the memory brings a smile to my face.  Peace be with you Tom.  

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Ghostkeeper. We were school buddies in Moosehorn Lodge at Grouard, Alberta in 1966-67.  He was my co-host at the first National Gathering of Elders in Edmonton two years ago. Tommy as I used to call him was a first class Metis gentleman.  Earned everyone's respect the good old fashion way.  Heartfelt condolences go out to his immediate family, his treasured relatives and friends. I was so saddened by Toms death. He was the worlds greatest campfire singer and I really appreciated  his great sense of humor. Condolences to the family, and may you rest in peace, Tom. 

Tom will be missed by so many. His sense of humour. His kindness . And his commitment to our Nation. Wether it was a meeting at Apee or a MNA function. Toms smile and humour would light up the room. Rest In Peace my friend.

My Condolences to the family. I grew up in Paddle. Glad to see he was devoted to the Metis. 

On behalf of the St. Albert-Sturgeon County Metis Local and the St. Albert National Aboriginal Day Society; I can't express how much we will miss Tom for his friendship, leadership; his cultural knowledge; his MC duties and most of all his sense of humour. Tom could walk into a room and he was like a magnet; very sociable and welcoming.
Thank you to Tom's family for being so supportive with Tom's charity work.

Tom was always very friendly,  hospital, kind and welcoming no matter where he was at, whether it  be at a function MCing, a family reunion, and at his home. We all loved to hear him play the guitar and sing beautiful songs. He has a very lovely family, that reflects many of his wonderful traits that were pasted on to him by his family.  He had a marvelous  sence of humor and so gracious. He was more like a brother than a brother-in- law. Always wonderful with our children as a friend and Uncle.
 I know Joe, myself and family will miss him greatly.

I met Tom in about 1991 through the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement and Metis Transition Commission. This was an enjoyable professional association that cross paths over the years. I learned a great deal from Tom about Metis history and culture. We will remember and miss you. Blessings to family and friends.

I didn't know Tom for long but what I did know him for was is his obvious love for his family and grand children. I know your presence will be missed greatly Tom.

RIP Tom . What a beautiful caring giving soul.  I watched you raise 3 terrific daughters with Martha.Then you showed us what a wonderful grandfather you were.   I saw you forever giving back to the community, no matter where you lived.  You were always so kind and we always had fun when you were around! I truly feel blessed to have known you .
