On Nov 29,2021, Walter Badun left this life at the age of 93 to join his loving wife Minnie, parents Emil and Mary, brother Nick, and sisters Pauline, Jennie and Vera in heaven. He will also enjoy the company of other family members, friends and pets who passed through the Pearly Gates before him. Walter was amazed he made it to such a ripe old age and he truly lived a good, full life.
Left to remember him is his son Glen (Sandra), daughter Debby (Troy), grandchildren Tyler (Heather), Melissa (Alex), Mike (Nikki) and Tony. Great grandchildren Myra, Marley, Cooper, Brooks and Lennon. Also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Walter was born in Gierczony, Poland on Aug 19, 1928. He immigrated to Canada with his family when he was 2 years old. The family homestead was in Glenevis, AB and he lived there until 1958 when he moved to Edmonton. In 1959, Walter and Minnie were married and bought their home in the Prince Rupert area of Edmonton. Walter remained in this house until his passing.
Walter tried his hand at a few different things before landing a job at Northwestern Utilities (Atco). He worked there for a few years and then an opportunity came up for him to work for the City of Edmonton. But In 1969 Walter returned to Northwestern Utilities (Atco) and remained a loyal employee for 23 years until he retired on Apr 1, 1992.
Walter was a kind and generous man and people found him to be very likeable. He liked to smile a lot and spend time with family and friends. He had a good sense of humor and was a practical joker which has now passed down 2 generations.
Walter and Minnie hosted many family and friend gatherings and Walter always made sure to have a full service bar set out on the dining room table.
He fondly remembered and talked about the family bus trip to California, Casino bus trips, Hawaii, Camping with their Travelaire, Fishing Derby’s, travelling to Saskatchewan to visit family, Curling, Bowling, watching Football and Hockey games and playing Crib. One of the highlights of his year was proudly requesting tickets for his family to attend the gas company picnic and because of his enthusiasm his children, grand children and great grandchildren have a lifetime of memories to share.
We Love You and We Will Miss You.
The family will celebrate Walter's Life with a private time of Remembrance.
