Wanda Lucille Christensen

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Wanda Lucille Christensen, who was born on April 7, 1929, and peacefully passed away on April 7, 2026, on her 97th birthday, surrounded by her family.

Wanda was raised in Vermilion, Alberta, alongside her parents, Everett and Ila Fry, and her siblings Carl, Grant, Sherry, and Alma. Those early years shaped the warmth, resilience, and kindness that she carried with her throughout her life.

She met the love of her life, Preben Christensen, and they were married on July 14, 1954. Soon after, they made their home in Edmonton, where they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep connections. Wanda worked as a telephone operator with AGT, and her greatest pride and joy was raising their five children.

Wanda found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed paper tole and ceramics, and she also liked to bowl. She was a wonderful cook and baker, always bringing comfort and joy to those around her through her meals. She cherished time spent with friends over coffee and treasured the small adventures she shared with Preben, especially their day trips to charming tea houses.

Above all, Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for her family was constant and unwavering, and she will be remembered for her gentle nature, her quiet strength, and the warmth she brought into every room.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Glen, Carla, Jody (Scott), and Derek (Aron); her grandchildren: Kerri, Courtney, Jennifer (Derrick), Jamie (Stefan), Brian, Christian (Tanya), Brodie, Tristen, Lorelei (Chris), and Ryan (Jackie); and her cherished great-grandchildren: Breanne, Marco, Jordan, Jayden, Larrissa, Kasia, Carson, Charlie, Austin, Annabelle, and Jacob. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Alma and Sherry, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Ila Fry; her brothers, Carl and Grant Fry; her beloved husband, Preben Christensen; her daughter, Maja Christensen; and her grandson, Beau Simonet.

A private funeral will be held for the family.

Wanda’s life was a beautiful example of love, dedication, and quiet grace. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
